Iwatani Torch CB-TC-PRO

This item is highly recommended

The Iwatani is the only torch we recommend that uses butane gas.

What We Like About the Iwatani Torch CB-TC-PRO

There are two knobs that control the flow of fuel and the amount of air used for combustion, giving a wide range of control over the flame. It is on the less expensive side and is usally about $5 cheaper than the BernzOmatic torches.

What We Don't Like About the Iwatani Torch CB-TC-PRO

It doesn't have an instant on/off trigger like the BernzOmatic torches. To ignite this one you first need to turn on the gas using the grey knob at the back end of the device. You then pull the trigger to ignite the flame. When you release the trigger the flame continues to burn until you turn the gas off with the grey knob. The process is not as convenient or safe. It also isn't as powerful as the BernzOmatic torches, but does have enough to get most jobs done.

Why We Recommend the Iwatani Torch CB-TC-PRO

The Iwatani is a decent torch that provides a good post-sous vide sear and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. We recommend it as a good torch, though our Top Pick is the BernzOmatic TS8000.
