How You Make Money Determines Your Blog's Entire Direction

I recently interviewed Omaily Lucas on the Makin' Bacon Podcast and this quote of hers really stuck with me.

"The way you monetize your blog defines the experience that you give your readers." - Omaily Lucas

Once we move from blogging as a hobby to blogging as a business, our end goal becomes making money. So it's not a surprise that HOW we make money affects all of the conscious and unconscious decisions we make, and shapes both our blog and us as bloggers.

Too many bloggers focus just on ads and then say "Books or courses or products wouldn't work for my audience", but that's because you didn't curate that type of audience. Once you had another way to make money for your blog you will see your audience, your content, and your decision making begin to shift.

But this can't be done in a vacuum, you need to create the product first, and then the shift will start to happen.

What products can you start to create? How can you start to shift your mindset to attract the audience you need? Let me know in the Makin Bacon Facebook Group or the comments below.

Go more in depth on attracting your ideal audience in my interview with Omaily Lucas.
