Mellow: The Latest Sous Vide Machine
The latest entrant in the sous vide machine market is Mellow, a self-contained sous vide machine. The units are comparably priced to a Sous Vide Supreme at $400 and are shipping in about a year.
I think it's biggest benefit is the ability to keep foods at refrigerator temperature, so you could place your food in the machine in the morning, and it would start cooking later in the day. It's also got wireless controls for both iPhone and Android devices and it looks pretty sleek.
I'm hoping to get my hands on one to give you more detailed impressions later in the year and I'll keep you informed as I get more information.
This article is by me, Jason Logsdon. I'm an adventurous home cook and professional blogger who loves to try new things, especially when it comes to cooking. I've explored everything from sous vide and whipping siphons to pressure cookers and blow torches; created foams, gels and spheres; made barrel aged cocktails and brewed beer. I have also written 10 cookbooks on modernist cooking and sous vide and I run the AmazingFoodMadeEasy.com website.
